Bogura to host Bangladesh’s first community-based agro-tourism project

Dhaka: A community-based agro-tourism project planned in Bogura has unveiled its master plan as developers seek to combine farming, hospitality and local economic activity at a single destination.

Sukher Khamar Agro Limited presented the project’s architectural design at the 13th Asian Tourism Fair 2026 in Dhaka on September 18. Land deeds were also handed to more than 150 project partners during the event.

The development in Bagail village of Kahaloo upazila will feature a 100-room agro resort with restaurants, a convention hall, swimming pool and boating facilities. The wider site will include crop fields, a 400-cattle dairy farm, fishery, livestock farms, a one-megawatt solar plant, biogas facilities, a mosque and an orphanage madrasa.

Site earthwork and road construction have been completed, with major construction expected to start in October.

The project operates under a Shariah-compliant musharaka model and has attracted more than 1,000 partners from 42 districts and 21 countries, according to the company. Partners will hold registered land interests and participate in revenue generated from multiple business activities.

Managing Director Jobayer Islam said the farm has already welcomed more than 2,000 visitors and created jobs for 41 local residents and opportunities for 10 women entrepreneurs.

The company plans to develop eight similar agro-villages across Bangladesh by 2035.
