Country’s first community-based agro-tourism village begins construction


The project was inaugurated
on October 10 at the banks of Bankadighi in Bagail village, with Dr. Md. Abdul
Majid Pramanik, acting director general of the Rural Development Academy in
Bogura, attending as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event,
Sukh-er Khamar Agro Ltd. Chairman Md. Tasdikh Habib said the initiative aims to
ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce while introducing visitors to
agricultural activities and promoting smart farming.
The company’s Managing
Director, Zubayer Islam, said the project has already generated an estimated BDT
1 crore in economic activity in a nearby village and created 41 direct jobs.
Operating under a
Shariah-compliant musharaka partnership model, the project has attracted more
than 1,000 investors from 21 countries and 42 districts of Bangladesh,
according to the company.
Located about 12
kilometers from Bogura city, the planned development will include a 100-room
agro-resort, restaurant, convention hall, swimming pool, boating facilities, a
400-cattle farm, fish farm, one-megawatt solar power plant, biogas facility and
madrasa.
The company aims to
establish eight agro-villages across Bangladesh’s eight administrative
divisions by 2035.
