Oman Air, SalamAir name new chief executives

Dhaka: Oman Air has named Nasser al Sharji as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, while SalamAir has appointed Eng. Yaqoob bin Saif bin Hamoud al Kiyumi as its new CEO, effective October 1.
The new Oman Air CEO, Nasser, brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across aviation, logistics, and oil and gas government services sectors.
He has held senior leadership roles at ASYAD Group, OQ, and Nama Water Services, where he led major national projects and organizational transformation initiatives. He also served as CEO of Transom Handling and acting CEO of Oman Airports Management Company.
Saeed al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman's Minister of Transformation, Communications and Information Technology, said Nasser's aviation expertise and track record of leading organizations through change would help the airline build on its recent progress.
Al Mawali also thanked Con Korfiatis, who has served as Oman Air's CEO since May 2024, for steering the airline through a major period of transformation, including improvements in financial sustainability and operational efficiency. Korfiatis will remain with the airline as Advisor to the CEO.
Oman Air said it would continue focusing on its transformation agenda and building a sustainable future as the national carrier under Nasser's leadership.
Separately, SalamAir confirmed Al Kiyumi's appointment as CEO effective October 1, marking what the airline called a new chapter in its development.
The appointment comes as the low-cost carrier continues pursuing sustainable growth, operational excellence, and improved customer experience while strengthening its position in Oman's aviation sector.
SalamAir's Board of Directors thanked outgoing CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns for his leadership and contributions during his tenure and welcomed Al Kiyumi, expressing confidence in his ability to guide the airline into its next phase.
The airline added that Al Kiyumi would build on SalamAir's existing achievements, supporting continued growth and its commitment to affordable, accessible air travel while strengthening Oman's connectivity with the rest of the world.
