Regional specialty cuisines at Handi

Indian
cuisine is one of the most widely enjoyed cuisines in Bangladesh. Kebabs,
tandoori dishes, jalfrezis and curries, served with hot, fluffy naans or crisp
parathas, have long been staples for food lovers in this part of the world.
Alongside these well-known dishes, regional Bang-ladeshi delicacies also hold a
special place. Kala Bhuna and Mejbani Gosht, two traditional specialties from
Chattogram, have gained considerable recognition in recent years.
Handi,
which opened its first outlet in Chittagong in 2007, brought these distinct
culinary traditions together under one roof. Following its success, the
restaurant ex-panded with two additional branches, one in Dhaka and another in
Cox's Bazar.
Its extensive menu features kebabs, tandoori preparations, beef and chicken dishes, accompanied by biryani, pulao, paratha, roti, naan and kulcha. Hyderabadi Biryani, Mutton Nehari and Mutton Rogan Josh are among the signature offerings. Local delicacies such as Beef Handi and Beef Kala Bhuna also have a special place on the menu.
Those
seeking South Indian fare can enjoy dosa, along with papad, pakora, chaat and
fuchka. With more than 160 dishes to choose from, Handi showcases a broad range
of North Indian cooking. The dessert selection features around a dozen sweet
treats, including falooda, yogurt, flavored ice cream and traditional kulfi.
Beyond
Indian cuisine, Handi serves Thai and Chinese fare, offering an assortment of
dishes from both regions. Soups and salads, crab and chicken, fish and prawns,
along with familiar staples such as noodles and rice, are available in a
variety of preparations. A seafood display near the entrance allows diners to
select their preferred pomfrets, crabs, lobsters and red snappers.
Recent menu additions include Mixed Seafood Grill, Whole Red Snapper Platter and the Phuchka Platter. Guests can also choose from three Khichuri Thalis, each served with fries, beef or chicken bhuna, achar and salad.
The
beverage list features mocktails, mojitos, juices, smoothies, lemonades, sodas,
hot and cold coffee, and frappes, offering plenty of refreshing options to
accompany a meal.
Stylish
interiors and a spacious dining hall create a welcoming atmosphere, while
natural light and surrounding views add to the setting's charm. The restaurant
can accommodate around 250 guests, and a private dining room provides space for
gatherings of up to 80 people. Takeaway and online ordering services are also
available.
Located
at House 108, next to Azad Masjid on Gulshan Avenue in Gulshan 2, Handi is open
from noon until 11 pm.
Whether
diners crave Indian classics, Asian fare or the distinctive flavors of
Chattogram, Handi brings a diverse culinary experience to the table.
