Riyadh Air, ANA ink MoU to expand Saudi-Japan connectivity

Dhaka: Riyadh Air and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance connectivity between Saudi Arabia, Japan, and destinations beyond, across both carriers' networks, according to an official statement issued on August 18.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the MoU sets the framework for the two carriers to gradually introduce a wide range of benefits, giving passengers more choices and travel experiences while strengthening air links between the Kingdom and Japan.
The partnership will leverage Riyadh Air's hub in Riyadh and ANA's dual hub in Tokyo to support more seamless travel options and improve access to domestic and international markets for both carriers.
The two airlines aim to build convenient connectivity between Riyadh and Tokyo via key connecting points, laying a foundation for future expansion as both networks grow. For ANA, this intermediate and beyond-Riyadh connectivity is positioned as a key network foundation to capture demand toward Riyadh and broader international markets.
Beyond network connectivity, the MoU also covers cooperation in areas including interline connectivity, codeshare arrangements, and loyalty program reciprocity between the two carriers.
Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said the agreement reflects the airline's ambition to build global partnerships that expand choice and deliver long-term value to its guests, while laying the groundwork for stronger connectivity between Riyadh and Tokyo.
ANA CEO Juichi Hirasawa said the partnership reflects the airline's ambition to connect Japan with Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, describing the region as one of remarkable economic growth.
Hirasawa added that ANA was pleased to partner with a young and dynamic carrier and hoped to serve as a bridge between the two markets, driving new business and tourism exchanges between the countries and beyond.
