Thai Airways waives date change fee for flood-hit travelers

Dhaka: Thai Airways International announced a one-time free date change for passengers affected by severe flooding in Bangkok and nearby areas, waiving the standard change fee.

The offer applies to ticket holders originally scheduled to depart from Bangkok between September 26 and 29, provided the new travel date keeps the same routing and class of service.

The rebooked journey date must be completed by September 29, the airline said in an official statement.

Thai Airways also urged travelers to leave extra time for their trip to the airport and to confirm flight status through the carrier's website or its 24-hour hotline.

Passengers whose flights are cancelled altogether will receive a full refund, the airline added, noting that any changes falling outside the stated conditions will remain subject to the original ticket terms.

The move follows Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt's declaration of disaster areas across all 50 city districts. He said clearing floodwater from the capital could take two to three days once rainfall subsides.
