US envoy hails scheduled Boeing-Biman deal for 11 more aircraft

Dhaka: The United States has welcomed the scheduled agreement between Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Boeing for the purchase of 11 additional commercial aircraft, describing it as a win-win for bilateral relations.

“Congratulations to Boeing and Biman on the agreement to purchase 11 more of the world's best commercial planes. Another win-win for the U.S.-Bangladesh relationship!” US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen said in an official social media post from the US Embassy Dhaka.

The ambassador also said he would be following the signing ceremony in New York later in the day.

The signing ceremony is scheduled at 4:30 pm New York time on September 23 (2:30 am Bangladesh time on September 24) on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The latest deal would add to Biman's aircraft procurement plans as the national flag carrier looks to expand and modernize its fleet.
