Air China to launch first-ever direct flights to Iceland

Dhaka: Air China will launch direct flights between China and Iceland, starting October 26, establishing the first air link between the two countries.

The route will operate as a fifth-freedom flight, tagged on to the airline's existing Beijing-Copenhagen service, continuing onward from Copenhagen to Keflavik.

Air China will operate three weekly flights on the route, deploying its Airbus A330-300 fleet. Tickets are already available for purchase through the carrier's official website.

The new service was announced by the Chinese Embassy in Iceland and is being positioned as a significant addition to air connectivity between Asia and Europe.

The route is expected to give a considerable boost to Iceland's tourism sector while strengthening business and travel ties between the two nations.

Industry estimates earlier this year suggested the new connection could generate billions of Icelandic krónur (ISK) in additional tourism export revenue for Iceland.
