dnata interested in ground handling at HSIA’s Third Terminal

Dhaka: UAE-based global air and travel services provider dnata has expressed interest in providing ground handling services at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The interest was discussed on May 21 during a courtesy meeting between Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, and UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Abdulla Alhmoudi at the ministry office in Dhaka, read a press release.
According to the ministry, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates, alongside cooperation in the aviation and tourism sectors.
During the meeting, the UAE ambassador highlighted dnata’s interest in participating in ground handling operations at the airport’s much-anticipated third terminal.
In response, State Minister Millat briefed the envoy on the ongoing preparations for the terminal’s launch and said the government would take necessary decisions regarding ground handling operations after the terminal’s ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) activities are fully underway.
The minister also said the government remains committed to improving service quality at the country’s airports and is ready to take all necessary measures to enhance passenger services.
The UAE ambassador expressed optimism about working closely with the current Bangladesh government in the aviation and tourism sectors.
dnata is one of the world’s leading air and travel service providers, offering ground handling, cargo, catering, travel, and retail services across international airports.
Earlier, UK- and Türkiye-based firms also showed interest in the same services.
