EBL partners with icddr,b for employee health benefits


Dhaka, August 20, 2026: Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with icddr,b, one of the world’s leading health research institutions, to extend exclusive healthcare benefits to its employees and their families.
Under this agreement, EBL employees, their spouses, and dependents will receive services from icddr,b’s state of the art Executive Health Check Clinics in Mohakhali, Dhanmondi, Uttara, and Mirpur. EBL expects this collaboration to be particularly beneficial for ongoing healthcare needs of its staff. By leveraging icddr,b’s advanced facilities, EBL employees will gain access to world‑class diagnostic services at affordable rates.
Operating since 1990, icddr,b Diagnostic Services was Bangladesh’s first facility to secure ISO 15189 and ISO 15190 accreditations—a benchmark of quality it maintains today across 177 distinct test parameters.
Dr. Md. Fazlul Kabir, Head, Clinical and Diagnostic Services of icddr,b, remarked that EBL has been a committed partner in advancing social causes in Bangladesh, and this initiative is a reciprocal gesture between the two organizations. Senior officials of both institutions were present at the signing ceremony.
This initiative reflects icddr,b’s longstanding social impact partnership with EBL and their goodwill gesture to support the bank’s workforce. The MOU provides a structured framework for referrals to icddr,b’s internationally accredited diagnostic laboratories, ensuring reliable and accurate medical testing.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahat Afroze, Head of Human Resources at EBL, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to employee well‑being, stating that this partnership underscores EBL’s dedication to fostering a healthy and productive workplace.
The event was attended by senior officials from both organizations. Representing icddr,b were Armana Ahmed, Head, Fund Development Office; Md. Shahriar Bin Elahi, Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics; Laila Farzana, Development Coordinator, Fund Development Office.
