Swissport expresses interest in ground handling at Dhaka Airport

Dhaka: Switzerland has expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Bangladesh's aviation sector, including potential involvement in ground handling services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The interest was conveyed by Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli during a courtesy meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat at the conference room of the Ministry on June 16.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen and diversify the longstanding bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Switzerland, according to a press release from the ministry.
The Swiss side expressed keen interest in working jointly with Bangladesh in the aviation sector.
A key topic of discussion was the interest of Swissport, the Switzerland-based global aviation services company, in providing ground handling services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, particularly as Bangladesh prepares for expanded operations at the airport's new infrastructure.
According to the ministry, the minister and state minister invited Swissport to submit a formal proposal and assured that the government would consider it in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Swissport is one of the world's largest aviation service providers, offering ground handling, cargo handling, and airport services across hundreds of airports worldwide.
