AirAsia, TAT expand partnership to boost regional travel


Bangkok
: AirAsia Group Berhad and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have
strengthened their partnership to promote Thailand as a leading travel
destination in Southeast Asia and drive tourism growth across the region.
The
two organizations signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
covering 2026 to 2029, with Thailand's Prime Minister witnessing the agreement.
The collaboration will focus on joint marketing campaigns, destination
promotion, route development and sharing travel market insights to attract more
visitors.
AirAsia
and TAT will work together to support existing and new air routes while using
digital platforms and promotional channels to highlight Thailand's cultural
experiences, hospitality and attractions. The partnership will also support
TAT's "Amazing Thailand, Feel All the Feelings" campaign and
Malaysia's Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative.
AirAsia
currently operates 123 weekly flights between Malaysia and Thailand through
AirAsia Malaysia and Thai AirAsia, connecting eight direct routes. The airline
group said it carried more than one million passengers between the two
countries in the first half of 2026, reflecting strong travel demand.
Farouk
Kamal, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Group Berhad, said the
partnership aims to make travel more accessible while supporting the
sustainable development of Thailand's tourism sector.
