ATC Basic Course No. 36 starts at Civil Aviation Academy


Dhaka: The Civil Aviation Academy has launched ATC Basic Course No. 36, a 27-week program aimed at developing a skilled air traffic controller workforce for safer and more efficient airspace management in Bangladesh.
Air Commodore Md. Nur-E-Alam, Member (ATM) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), formally inaugurated the course at 10:00 am on August 23.
In his address, Air Commodore Nur-E-Alam described air traffic control as one of the most critical and demanding functions in aviation, noting that trained controllers ensure safe separation between aircraft and orderly management of the country's airspace.
He stressed that modern, internationally benchmarked training is essential to develop human resources capable of meeting the growing demands of Bangladesh's aviation sector, adding that such training strengthens professional competence and decision-making skills.
Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashanta Kumar Chakraborty welcomed the trainees and guests, calling skilled personnel essential to a safer, more modern, and more efficient aviation system. He urged participants to approach the training with discipline and professional responsibility.
CAAB's Director (ATM), Md. Shamsul Haque, also addressed the event. Officials from both the Civil Aviation Academy and CAAB attended the occasion.
ATC Basic Course No. 36 has enrolled a total of 14 trainees, including eight members of the Bangladesh Air Force and six CAAB officials. Over the next 27 weeks, participants will undergo theoretical and practical instruction covering air traffic control and air traffic management.
CAAB officials said such programs are vital to producing skilled controllers and maintaining safe, efficient handling of the country's expanding aviation operations.
