Bangladesh envoy in Japan seeks academic, skilled workforce cooperation


Dhaka: Bangladesh
Ambassador to Japan Md Daud Ali held a series of meetings in Osaka on June 23,
aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in human resource development,
technical education, and skilled workforce mobility.
During a meeting with
Professor Tsuyoshi Ueda, President of Osaka University of Human Sciences, the Ambassador
discussed opportunities for collaboration in developing Bangladesh's human
capital, particularly through technical and vocational education and training
(TVET) programs. He highlighted Bangladesh's large youth population and
stressed the importance of equipping young people with market-relevant skills.
The Ambassador also requested the university to increase the admission of
Bangladeshi students, read a press release.
Earlier, Ambassador Daud
Ali met Kun-ei Foundation Chairman Ogawa Michio and Vice Chairman Ogawa
Tetsuro. The discussions focused on the potential use of information technology
to enhance students' mental development and learning processes. The Osaka-based
foundation expressed interest in establishing a cooperative partnership with
Bangladesh in this field.
The Ambassador also
participated in the Tokutei Ginou (Specified Skilled Worker–SSW) Summit in
Osaka, a high-level conference attended by senior Japanese government
officials, industry leaders, recruitment agencies, educational institutions,
and stakeholders involved in foreign workforce development.
Addressing the summit,
Ambassador Daud Ali said Bangladesh has been working closely with Japan to
develop skilled human resources to help address Japan's workforce shortage. He
noted that a growing number of Bangladeshi students and workers have entered
Japan in recent years and are contributing positively to the country's economy.
The Ambassador urged
Japanese employers, recruitment agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate
the recruitment of more skilled and trainable workers from Bangladesh,
emphasizing the country's potential to become a major source of human resources
for Japan.
