Bangladesh, Malaysia discuss deeper tourism cooperation


Dhaka: Bangladesh and Malaysia have discussed creating enriched travel experiences for tourists from both nations while reinforcing longstanding bilateral ties and identifying fresh avenues for mutually beneficial collaboration in tourism.
The areas of cooperation were explored during a meeting between State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Chiew Choon Man, in Putrajaya on August 18.
Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, also attended the meeting, which was held at the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), said a release from the Bangladeshi mission in Kuala Lumpur.
Key topics included cultural exchanges, boosting flight frequencies between the countries, capacity building, visa facilitation, and pre-verification processes.
Officials also exchanged views on sharing expertise and best practices in tourism development, along with training and skills development in the hospitality sector to support the recruitment of trained Bangladeshi personnel into Malaysia's tourism service industry.
Both sides emphasized closer cooperation to promote tourism, strengthen people-to-people connectivity, and expand cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
The meeting was also attended by MOTAC Deputy Secretary General (Tourism) Chua Choon Hwa and Tourism Malaysia's Director of International Promotion for Asia and Africa, Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, along with senior officials from both organizations.
Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mosammat Shahanara Monica and First Secretary (Commercial) Pranab Kumar Ghosh of the Bangladesh High Commission were present as well.
