Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan holds charity run for children

Dhaka: Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan held the second edition of its "Run for Charity: Meaningful Marathon" on the morning of September 25, drawing around 200 participants for a 5-kilometer run to support underprivileged children.
The event, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts' Giving for Good Month, brought together hotel staff, corporate partners, community members, and running enthusiasts. Former Bangladesh national footballer Zahid Hasan Ameli also took part in the run.
Participants set off at 5:30 am from the hotel and completed a 5-kilometer route before returning to the venue. Each runner contributed BDT 1,500 toward the cause, with the entire amount directed to Odommo Bangladesh Foundation, which runs the Mojar School for vulnerable children. The initiative raised roughly BDT 300,000 in total.
Karthi VK, General Manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan, said the event reflected what could be achieved when people come together for a shared purpose. He thanked participants, partners, and colleagues for helping turn a morning run into meaningful support for children, adding that the strong turnout, following last year's edition, was encouraging.
Every participant received a commemorative medal and a certificate acknowledging their contribution, along with event T-shirts. Runners were also treated to a buffet breakfast at the hotel after the race, while the top five finishers received special prizes.
The marathon builds on the inaugural edition held last year, also organized by Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan under IHG's Giving for Good Month, which similarly combined a charity run with a focus on health and community wellbeing.
Through the initiative, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan said it aims to continue offering colleagues, partners, and the wider community opportunities to support social causes while encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle.
