Minister directs transparency in aviation, tourism project implementation

Dhaka: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam on May 23 directed officials to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of development projects under the ministry.
The instruction came during a meeting held at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Bangladesh Secretariat to review the implementation progress of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for April of the 2025–26 fiscal year.
Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said the remaining work of all ongoing projects must be completed as quickly as possible in line with the directives of the current government, according to a press release.
She stressed that proper financial feasibility assessments should be conducted before taking up any new projects in the aviation and tourism sectors in the future.
The minister also underscored the importance of having well-planned implementation strategies before constructing any infrastructure or facilities. She instructed the concerned authorities to remain more vigilant and responsible in monitoring contractors’ work progress.
“Projects implemented with public money must ultimately benefit the people,” she said, adding that all stakeholders must remain alert and responsible to ensure that development benefits reach citizens.
Afroza Khanam further said ensuring transparency and accountability in project implementation is essential and directed officials to maintain strict monitoring at every stage of execution.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar. Among others, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, senior ministry officials, CAAB officials, and directors of various ongoing projects attended the meeting.
