Renaissance Dhaka marks ‘Day of Discovery’, highlighting local heritage

Dhaka: Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel celebrated the global Renaissance Day of Discovery on Sunday (Nov 16) with a special event showcasing Bangladeshi culture, craftsmanship and local entrepreneurship.

The programme aimed to connect guests with the authentic stories and creative spirit of Dhaka’s neighbourhoods.

Held at the hotel’s GBC Lobby Level, the event featured the official launch of Evening Market, a curated platform designed to promote locally inspired products and experiences.

Several well-known local brands, including Pushpo Nir, Endless, Hat Baksho, Biskut Factory, Kumudini Handicrafts and Mirror, participated in the exhibition. 

Their displays blended traditional craftsmanship with modern design, reflecting the dynamism of Bangladesh’s creative sector.

Hotel officials said the initiative is part of Marriott International’s global R FINDS marketplace, which works to promote local culture and support community-based businesses.

Business leaders, travellers, cultural influencers and hotel guests explored stalls offering handmade crafts, local food items and neighbourhood-inspired products. 

Cultural performances and live music added to the atmosphere, highlighting Dhaka’s artistic identity.

Adding a touch of glamour, leading lifestyle and content creators attended the event, including Sunehra Azmee, Ilma, Afsana Khantura, Lamiya Tajim Jara, Ayesha Shikder, and Itratt, sharing the highlights with their engaged audiences.

With an ambiance that seamlessly blended discovery and celebration, the Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel once again reaffirmed its commitment to championing local culture and inviting guests to uncover the hidden stories of their neighborhood. 

The Renaissance Day of Discovery was more than just an event—it was a reminder that every corner of Dhaka holds a tale waiting to be discovered.

Hotel management said the event reaffirmed Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel’s commitment to celebrating local heritage and encouraging visitors to discover the city’s unique stories.
