SriLankan Airlines runs A330 training program for Etihad examiners

Dhaka: SriLankan Airlines conducted a specialized Airbus A330 Line Flying Under Supervision (LFUS) program for six senior training and examination pilots from Etihad Airways, as per a release from the Sri Lankan national carrier.
The group comprised five Type Rating Examiners (TRE) and one Senior Type Rating Examiner (STRE). SriLankan Airlines' Flight Training team ran the program in close coordination with Etihad Airways, giving the visiting pilots operational exposure on the A330.
Two of the six pilots completed their training on September 23, while the other four finished their programs on September 27.
The airline said the program required extensive planning due to operational, regulatory, and security considerations. It worked with the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), the Ministry of Defence, and other stakeholders to set up the framework and secure the necessary clearances.
SriLankan Airlines said the assignment reflected Etihad's confidence in its training expertise and operational standards. The carrier added that the program drew on its A330 fleet, experienced instructors, and existing training infrastructure.
The airline also said the initiative highlighted the potential of SriLankan Airlines Flight Training to serve as a regional aviation training partner for international operators.
According to the release, the program further strengthened ties between the two national carriers. It also provided a platform to explore future cooperation in pilot training and other areas of aviation expertise.
