Tourism, trade to boost as Bangladesh, Azerbaijan agree to open resident diplomatic missions

Dhaka: Bangladesh and Azerbaijan have agreed to open resident diplomatic missions in each other's capitals as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
The decision came during a telephone conversation between Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on the afternoon of June 18, said the Foreign Ministry in a press release.
During the discussion, Bayramov warmly congratulated Dr. Rahman on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), describing it as a significant achievement for Bangladesh on the global stage.
The two foreign ministers reviewed the current state of bilateral ties and expressed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. They also discussed measures to enhance diplomatic engagement and expand collaboration between the two nations.
A key outcome of the conversation was the agreement to establish resident diplomatic missions in their respective countries, a move expected to facilitate closer political, economic, and people-to-people relations. Stakeholders believe the initiative will also boost travel, tourism, and business exchanges between the two countries.
Dr. Rahman also invited his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time. The invitation was welcomed, reflecting the shared desire of both countries to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
