Turkish Airlines eyes three new US destinations

Speaking at the
International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual meeting in Rio de
Janeiro, Turkish Airlines Chairman Prof Dr Murat Şeker confirmed the carrier's
interest in launching flights to Minneapolis–St Paul (MSP) and Philadelphia
(PHL), while Orlando (MCO) remains a route already under consideration.
Minneapolis is seen as
the strongest opportunity, supported by significant demand for connections to
Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia through Istanbul. Philadelphia,
meanwhile, could attract travelers currently using nearby airports such as
Newark, JFK, and Washington Dulles for international connections.
Orlando's inclusion is
less surprising, as the city has appeared in Turkish Airlines' long-term
expansion plans for several years.
The airline currently
serves 14 US destinations and operates around 21 daily flights between Istanbul
and the United States during the peak summer season. While no launch dates have
been announced, the comments signal Turkish Airlines' continued focus on
growing its North American network.
