Envoy encourages Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in France

Dhaka: French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, on Tuesday encouraged Bangladeshi students to consider France as a destination for quality higher education, highlighting the country’s expanding international academic environment and growing number of English-taught programs.
The ambassador made the remarks during an interaction with students at the University of Dhaka following a meeting with the university’s Vice-Chancellor, A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, according to a press release from the embassy.
During the discussion with the Vice-Chancellor, both sides focused on expanding higher education opportunities in France for Bangladeshi students, particularly through the activities of Campus France Bangladesh, which provides guidance and support to international students seeking admission to French institutions.
The ambassador emphasized that Bangladesh should have stronger representation within France’s international student community. He noted that France offers a wide range of academic programs in English, making the country increasingly accessible to foreign students.
He also underscored France’s commitment to women’s education and scholarship opportunities, saying the French government promotes inclusion and greater opportunities for female students as part of its feminist foreign policy.
Addressing students, the envoy advised them to rely on Campus France Bangladesh as the official and reliable source of information regarding higher studies in France. He added that although students are free to choose their preferred universities, applications are reviewed and validated through Campus France to ensure academic compatibility and proper support.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Obaidul Islam highlighted the importance of international student mobility and appreciated the continued support provided by the French Embassy through Campus France initiatives.
He also praised the contributions of French oceanography expert Tonia Astrid Capuano, whose work at the university’s Department of Oceanography has strengthened academic and research activities.
The ambassador was accompanied by Cultural Attaché Baptiste Lebret, Country Head of Campus France Bangladesh Syeda Naasiba Hossain, and Dr. Capuano during the visit.
