Hong Kong records 4.5m visitor arrivals in July

The Hong Kong Tourism
Board said meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) were among
the key contributors to July’s growth. Major events including the 108th
Lions International Convention and technology exhibition LEAP East helped
attract visitors from several important source markets.
Adverse weather, however,
weighed on overall tourism performance during the month, according to the
tourism board.
Despite the mixed
conditions, Hong Kong’s visitor numbers have maintained strong growth during
the year. The city recorded 31.22 million arrivals in the first seven months of
2026, up 11 percent compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
The Asian financial hub
is also gaining popularity among Vietnamese travelers. Hong Kong ranked seventh
among the 10 most searched overseas destinations for Vietnam’s upcoming
five-day National Day holiday, according to Agoda.
The ranking was based on
accommodation searches made between May 1 and July 31 for stays from August 28
to September 2. Hong Kong ranked ahead of Kuala Lumpur, Bali and Osaka.
Its food scene remains
another major attraction. The 2026 Michelin Guide lists 77 Michelin-starred
restaurants in Hong Kong, including seven three-star, 13 two-star and 57
one-star establishments.
